Thoughts for the Day - understanding.
The gift of understanding springs from love and sympathy. Those who look beneath the surface can discern and see, the anxious thought behind the smile, the tear behind the eye, secrets that are hidden from the casual passer by. They can catch the note of sorrow in a laughing jest, can sense the fears that haunt the heart though dumb and unexpressed, can see the other side of things; the real, the human side, underneath indifference or bitterness or pride. Let us try to cultivate the power to understand, knowing when to stand apart and when to lend a hand, knowing just the thing to say in every circumstance, seeing to the heart of every problem at a glance.
