Hello, Well, the Christmas Rush is on full-swing here on Long Island. The holiday decorations are up and glowing like Las Vagas. The stores and malls are humming and cash-registers ringing, or should that be card-swipe's a-swiping. Some credit card companies are offering an interest free shopping season to encourage people to swipe more. And the music in the malls goes like this: walk to the beat, walk to the beat, buy to the beat, buy to the beat--it's mesmerizing. And all the stuff, wow, so much. So much stuff. Happy peaceful shopping, all!

Thank you very much for all your help "Local from Durrow" Made my first trip to Bob Bar last night, nice little pub tho a bit quiet. I believe a good game of Texas Holdem is to be had their on Wed nights and I believe the guy who owns it or someone in the family is in Uisce Beatha, I've seen them down home quite a bit and they are excellent plus if its the guy Im thinking of then I might make Bobs a regular spot! Cute! All your advice has been great and will be taken on board, I'm only 26 so will jot around to a few of the local spots and take it from there. Thanks a mill Sinead

I visited the Durrow Inn in June with 16 fellow travelers and we spent the best two hours of our 8 day trip. Michael and Trish Gaughan were fantastic. My great great Grandfather was born in Durrow and I think I met a cousin, Sean a great fellow. The Durrow Inn does serve a great pint!

Hi Sinead, welcome to Durrow, you will certainly bump in to a few fellow Wexford "Yella-Bellies" here, especially when the GAA season kicks off next May! As for the Pub Scene around Durrow, it is a hit-and-miss affair really and quite seasonal too! Your age will tend to tie you to a particular pub in general, but people often float between various establishments. Bobbys is a good pub, the busy night is Friday - a great range of ages in there and with no TV and no Jukebox, the craic with other locals has to be the best - especially when the Kilkenny/Laois debate gets going! Lennons is under renovations at the moment, I expect that it will be THE pub for a while to come, they cater for the young crowd and can put on a feast of rock music bands and good DJs from time to time. Busy all over the weekend, but quiet as hell midweek unless a good soccer match is on TV. Peadars is a right mix of all ages between 20 and 60, quite popular with the Sports fans too. Pool table can be the centre of attention with some class players around, one of them a Wexford lad aswell. Peadar puts on music most weekends, he gets a Karaoke lad once on a while who can put on a right good night. The Nore Nets is under new management and is a rather quiet pub lately. Occasionally some good music, but largely caters for 40+ age group. The Durrow Inn is quite a poor location, drab surroundings and almost never any music, having said, it does serve a grand pint! In fairness though, all the Pubs serve a good quality pint, it is rare to get a bad pint in any of them. Kilkenny will prove to be an expensive option and can be quite difficult to get taxis HOME! Nearby Rathdowney has good Pubs too and can be a great change to Durrow when you get sick of the same 'ol, easy enough for taxis because of the seven mile proximity. That is my opinion anyways! Best to explore for yourself! You should find most locals friendly and polite, and if you're a cutie single girl, expect to meet some comical characters in your travels trying to cha ya up! :D :D :D

Hey guys, I've just moved to Durrow and was wondering about some of the pubs etc or is Kilkenny just a better spot to hit at the weekend? I've been given a few names of different places, Peadars, Bobbys Bar, Lennons but dont know the score on any of them.........moved up to Durrow from Gorey so any advice would be appreciated....... Why dont you guys leave your names on this web site, lots of unidentified mailers on the go, I think this town could turn out quite interesting!!
